Neil Glass was born on April 19,1986 and raised in Oxnard, California, also known as the ‘805 area code’. Since childhood, hip-hop was deeply rooted in Neil’s life and he understood that his life was destined to be in the hip-hop industry. This was the beginning of a new era for Neil Glass; thus, deciding to present himself as, ‘Neoh, the Kaninving One’.
In 2001, Neoh was given the opportunity to work with a local label company called, ‘Flow Entertainment’. During this time, Neoh saw the opportunity to perfect his technique as an artist and lyricist by performing at house parties, and allowing him to record his style of music. Neoh’s lyrical style have always been influenced by the ideologies of the ‘Old-School West Coast Scene’, which most people have forgotten. Back then, choices were quite limited to the children who lived in the streets of California. For Neoh, he believed that music, despite the children’s tough upbringings in the ‘hood’, music meant the gateway to their freedom and aspirations in life. In the end, his ideologies motivated him to always be a better lyricist, and never allow himself to stop evolving within the industry. This became the philosophical foundation of his style of music today.
By 2003, Flow Entertainment presented him an opportunity to produce his very first album, “Neo, the Kaniving One”. This achievement meant more than just producing an album. This gave him the chance to connect with other artists and luckily, allowed him to meet Andrey Gutierrez (also known as XO), who at the time ran Thug Fella Productions. In 2004, with the collaboration of both Flow Entertainment and Thug Fella Production, Neoh started to perform in shows and was even offered to work on various projects that would have never been possible before. Neoh eventually departed with Flow Entertainment and continued to work with Thug Fella Productions.
Between 2004 to 2005, he released his second album called “Cali-Vacation” under Thug Fella Production. After his album released, Neoh continued to work on several projects and collaborated with various artists from his home town of 805 area code. The projects and collaborations continued on until 2008, when he decided to begin work on his third album, “Mr. Glass” which included the collaborations of well-known artists such as Bo-Roc (of The Dove Shake) and A-Dubb.
By the year 2009 rolled around, Andrey Gutierrez (also known as XO) decided to leave behind his production company and began a Record label by the name of, ‘Thug Fella Records’. He offered Neoh a permanent position as the Executive Producer for Thug Fella Records. Under this new record label, Neoh released his highly anticipated third album, “Mr. Glass”, as well as, worked on a collaborative album, “Kaniving Kons” with a fellow label artist named, Konflict. This album has yet to be released. Between 2010 to 2011, Neoh was able to release two mixtapes by the name of ‘Da Shiznit Volume 1 & 2’ and completed his fourth album, “Raps Tatts and Slaps”. The album is planned to be release under the label by the first quarter of 2012.
Neoh, despite his own hectic schedule with his album, worked on side projects that have included Butch Cassidy and Slip Capone. In addition, Neoh has worked with a number of well-known artists since becoming the Executive Producer of Thug Fella. Various artists include Da Rilla (Hustle Boyz), Jminixx (DPG), TC (G Hood Fellaz/DPG), Mac Lucci (Hustle Boyz/ Doggy Style Records), Big Doty (Hustle Boyz), Bad Azz (DPG), and Roscoe (DPG). Throughout his successful career, Neoh strives to introduce a different sound and style to the hip-hop world. He was able to achieve what most considered being impossible due his childhood upbringing in area code 805. His music has shown depth, wisdom, and style that no other contemporary artist has to offer. Needless to say, Neoh the Kaniving One is an artist that will continue to impress his fans and audiences around the world and share his success to those whom believed in him from the beginning to now.
